There was a late fitness call on Harry Flatters, who'd been ill in the run up to the game. Toby Wells stepped in and alayed any fears in that department.
Jay Davis earned a place in the starting eleven thanks to his brace from the bench last Saturday.
The Miners have yet to concede a goal this term and the defensive unit of Smith, Viggars and Barkway once again nullified much of the attacking threat thrown at them.
It was a physical, fast paced game from the start and Sam Barkway bore the brunt of some of that physicality, surviving some hefty challenges.
In a half of few chances, Matt Antcliff had a couple of early opportunities, one of which was a clever dink that clipped the top of the Consett bar.
Wells got down well to make a good save at the other end.
Garforth had the upper hand in the second period, but Consett keeper Parkin was in inspired form.
Davis thought he’d found a way past him when he shimmied away from his marking and placed a left foot shot agonisingly wide of the left upright.
Wells was glad to see a shot bounce wide of his far post, when the attacker should have done better.
Man of the match Dan Coupland latched on to a perfectly weighted ball by Max Tweddle and manoeuvred past two players in the area, only to drop to his knees in disbelief when Parkins left toe kept out his strike.
Both teams went for it as time started to run out.
Substitute Charlie Marshall fashioned a couple of chances for himself, but was thwarted by Parkin and then a defensive block.
There was a desperate penalty claim in the Garforth box that was immediately waved away by the referee, amid howls from the home support.
More Garforth players fell to their knees when Sam Cable smashed at a close range shot that Parkin kept at bay. The keeper bravely took the full force of the effort in his face, which he needed treatment for.
Despite Garforths’ best efforts time ran out and they had to settle for a share of the spoils.
It could have been more, but it’s another point on the board and keeps the unbeaten start to the season intact.
