Match preview of Garforths' first match of 2025

*There will be a minutes' applause in memory of long time club volunteer Dennis Sanderson before todays game*

A big thank you to todays match sponsors - Jo and Callum Everatt.

Garforth finally return to NPL action this afternoon, with the visit of Stocksbridge Park Steels to the Bannister Prentice Stadium.
Stocksbridge come into this game on the back of a six game unbeaten run, the last being a 3-0 home win over Sheffield FC a couple of weeks ago.

The teams met back in September, when "The Steels" 3-0 win inflicted one of Garforths biggest defeats of the season.
The scorers in that game, Jack Haslam (2) and Alex Hardwick, have since departed the club, but remain their top scorers on 8 and 11 goals respectively.
Since his return to Stocksbridge from Matlock Town, forward James Morris has taken the mantle of biggest goal threat with four goals in his last four games.

After a three week hiatus, The Miners will be looking forward to stepping out in front of a partisan home crowd that has seen them lose just once in their last seven home games.
Top scorers Matt Antcliff and Charlie Marshall (7 goals apiece) will be expected to start alongside in-form striker Max Bauer.

A Garforth win this afternoon would see them draw level on 40 points with their visitors, and keep them within touching distance of the playoff places.
