The stage is set for another tough test in the latter stages of the NPL East season, as the Miners will travel to the Horsfall Stadium to face Bradford Park Avenue for this rescheduled fixture. The sides have been within touching distance of each other in the table for most of the campaign, with the Green Army sitting 9th, one place and two points behind Town.
Back in October, Tuesday's opponents narrowly picked up a 1-0 win at the Bannister Prentice Stadium in a closely contested affair; an outcome that Garforth will want to avoid repeating. Vengeance for the Miners along with the alluring prospect of a play-off place for both teams should help produce a fierce derby day affair.
Following consecutive relegations in the previous two seasons, Bradford PA appear to have stabilized with positive developments being made around the club and an influx of youth talent.
One such young standout is attacking midfielder Connor Shanks, who currently has nine goals to his name in league competition and one behind club top scorer Paddy Sykes. Shanks also buried the only goal of the game against Town earlier in the season and yet again may pose a dangerous threat to the Miners.
However, three defeats in succession for the Green Army has marked a disappointing blip in form, especially considering the ten goals conceded in total in those matches. Manager Craig Elliott spoke after the most recent defeat, a 3-1 loss to Consett, and highlighted that "everyone needs to improve and we need to solve it."
Elliott further added that his squad "can't start looking at the play-offs. We have to strip it all back, get back to basics and try to get a positive result on Tuesday."
Similar to Avenue, the Miners are winless in their last three games although it wouldn't be unfair to say Town deserved much more in terms of points from those matches. Considering the current injury crisis, Garforth have performed well despite the lack of a finishing touch. Matt Savage was withdrawn from Saturday's game early with a knock though the severity of the injury isn't known, and he may feature this midweek.
Manager Paul Marshall brought new signing Freddy Jeffreys into the fold against Grimsby Borough on Saturday. Even though his cameo was short after coming off the bench, the young attacking midfielder looked lively and certainly can contribute for Town going forward.
A difficult match to predict but the Miners are well aware that a positive result could put pressure on the teams above them and take them closer to an unlikely but definitely possible play-off spot.
Kick Off is at 7:45pm
