After an Emirates FA Cup replay victory, which saw Charlie Marshall score the only goal in a win against West Didsbury & Chorlton, Garforth now set their sights on their first league game of the season.
Dunston, Garforth’s opponents on Saturday, have already begun their league campaign with 4 points from 2 games. A 2-0 victory away to Matlock Town, followed by a 1-1 draw at Blyth Spartans, has meant that Garforth Town face a
top of the table side to kick off the season.
However, the Miners head into the clash in good form across a productive pre-season. 4 wins from 6 friendlies, most notably a 3-0 win against Emely at the BD Community Stadium, as well as progression into the next round of the FA Cup, have the visitors flying high coming into Saturday’s match.
High hopes that Garforth can pick up 3 points to start off the league campaign are also backed up by their success against Dunston last season. Paul Marshall’s side took four points off Saturday’s opposition in 2025/26, with a resounding 3-0 victory at home in November being followed by a 1-1 draw in March, which gave the Miners a deserved point away from home and moved their points total against Dunston up to 4 for the season.
