Garforth recorded a deserved victory in extremely tough conditions, which ultimately played their part.

On the back of three wins, West Auckland should have entered into this game with a bit of a swagger, but they were limited to less than a handful of chances all game.

Credit to Garforth for attempting to play football, but the swirling wind and continuous downpour made it not only a tough game to play in, but a tough game to watch, despite the teams’ best efforts.

Winning goalscorer James Burgess said after the game “if you don’t shoot, you don’t score”, referring to his twenty five yard effort that squirmed underneath the body of West keeper Bessent in the fifty ninth minute. A shot that would have been comfortably gathered in drier circumstances.

The win sees Garforth move up to ninth in the NPL East Division.
