Garforth slipped to a narrow defeat at Blyth thanks to a first half goal from Jack Foalle.
The sides started the day level on points, but Blyth were one of the form sides in the NPL East and had gone ten games unbeaten at Croft Park.
Garforth came into the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat at Guisborough, but were boosted by the returns of captain Jamie Barkway and vice captain Niall Tilsley to the lineup. Matt Savage also made a return to the squad.
The Spartans made the breakthrough of a closely matched first half on thirty one minutes through Foalle and that's how it stayed into half time.
Harry Flatters was called upon to make an excellent save with an outstretched boot after the break, before Garforth had an opportunity to equalise with the closest effort of the second half.
A Max Tweddle cross into the box found the feet of Ronnie McGrath, whose outstretched leg could only guide the ball onto the post. The ball was then hooked off the line by Jordan Summerly before it could creep over the line.
While it meant a second defeat in a week, the Miners put in a good performance at a ground that has become a fortress this season.
Garforth are next in action away at Campion in the West Riding FA County Cup on Tuesday evening.
Then on Saturday (24th October) its' a home game at the BD Community Stadium against West Auckland.
