What a year it’s been at Garforth Town! As we bring 2024 to a close, it’s the perfect time to celebrate everything we’ve achieved together on and off the pitch. From promotion to new floodlights, and some unforgettable matchdays, the Miners are truly on the rise.

From Play-Off Drama to Holding Our Own
It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating promotion to the Northern Premier League Division One East. Finishing third in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division last season, the play-offs were a rollercoaster ride of emotions. The team showed heart, grit, and nerve to come through, and the celebrations will live long in the memory.

This season has been all about adapting to the higher level, and I’m delighted to say we’ve risen to the challenge. Sitting 8th in the league with 37 points from 23 games, we’ve proven we belong. Memorable moments include the hard-fought 4-3 away win, fighting back from 3-0 down and our Boxing Day triumph. The lads are showing they can mix it with the best.

Biggest Matches and Biggest Crowds
2024 also saw some of our largest crowds in years. The play off semi final of 900+, the final of 1300+, the York City friendly 900+ and one standout was the FA Cup match against Bury, which brought a bumper attendance of 1400+to the Bannister Prentice Stadium. Although we didn’t progress, the atmosphere was fantastic from all fans, showcasing the passion of our incredible supporters. Other notable games drew huge crowds too, proving that the Miners are a massive draw both locally and further afield.

To everyone who’s come through the turnstiles this year – thank you! Your support lifts the team and is what this club is all about.

Let There Be Light!
Off the pitch, September was a game-changer as we unveiled our brand-new LED floodlights. They’ve transformed the ground for our evening games, creating a better matchday experience and reducing the clubs running costs.

And we’re not stopping there. 2025 will bring even more ground improvements. We’re committed to making the Bannister Prentice Stadium a place everyone can be proud of. Watch this space for more exciting updates in the new year!

Moments of Magic
This year has been packed with individual brilliance and team spirit. Players have given us plenty to cheer about, while Marshy, Smudge and Jelly have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to get the best out of the squad.

But let’s not forget the vital role of our fans. From the chants on the terraces to the tweets of support, you’re the heartbeat of this club. Whether you’ve been cheering us on at home or following us away, your passion and loyalty mean the world to us.

Looking Ahead to 2025
As we turn the page to 2025, we’ve got plenty to look forward to. We’re determined to push further up the league, continue nurturing talent, and deliver a top-class experience for everyone who steps foot in our ground.

To everyone who’s been part of this journey – players, staff, volunteers, fans, sponsors – thank you for making Garforth Town what it is. Together, we’ve achieved so much, and we’re excited for what’s to come.
