This may have ended in a 0-0 stalemate, but considering Garforths' start to 2016, there were definitely positives to be taken away.
Ben Hunter, just signed for Ossett Town on dual terms, made way for Tom Osbourne between the sticks. Mick Jones' experience was utilised in a postion just in front of the back four, a role that worked well and will no doubt be put to more use.
Khalid Alali started at left back, making it twin full-backs for Town a-la Man Uniteds' Da Silva twins (remember them? yeah me too, just...)
Danny Harris mad a welcome return to the Garforth Town “engine” room. His “motoring” runs down the left had been missed in recent weeks!
Nostell has never been a happy hunting ground for Garforth and they experienced their heaviest defeat of last season there, going down 6-1, so the Miners would have settled for a point before kick-off.
Not surprisingly this was a game of very few chances, with Osbourne made the only notable save of the game just before half time with an agile dive to divert Mathew Johnsons' piledriver round the post.
The best chances for the home side came early and late in the game. Fidel Mholo carved a decent early effort for himself that curled just wide and Liam Radford should have snatched a late winner, but scuffed terribly from yards out.
Curtly Martin-Wyatt came closest to breaking the deadlock when his header hit the Nostell bar. The striker just seemed to get ahead of Spencer Lunds' cross, making it difficult to direct.
Both managers seemed a little relieved to hear the final whistle and share the spoils, giving them a platform to build on.
